Hambantota

Hambantota is located in Sri Lanka's southern coastline area. It is bounded to the west and east by the districts of Matara and Monaragala, respectively. The district is distinguished by a combination of coastline, marshes, and interior environments.

With the recent construction of the Hambantota Port, a deep-water port, Hambantota has attracted major interest. The port facilitates international trade and business by serving as a significant marine center in Sri Lanka.

Hambantota is home to a number of natural reserves and animal sanctuaries. The district's Bundala National Park is a well-known bird refuge and vital wetland ecosystem. It is home to several bird species, especially migratory birds. 

Kumana bird sanctuary

Formerly known as East Yala National park, Kumana bird sanctuary is situated in Hambanthota. The park is home to many flora and fauna species. Dry zone inherited plants are a common sight in the park. White-breasted Waterhen, Duck Black-crowned Night Heron, Intermediate Egret, Lesser Whistling Glossy Ibis, Purple Heron, Little Egret, Spot-billed Pelican, are some of the birds you can spot in Kumana.

Situated in Hambantota, Bird research centre and resort is also known as Hambantota birds park. With over 180 species of exotic birds, the research centre spans over 35 acres. Located close to Hambantota, Bundala national park is home to many bird and animal species. Kumana National Park

Situated in 391 kilometers away from Colombo, Kumana National Park is located in the Ampara district of the south-east of Sri Lanka.

Also known as Yala East National Park, the park spans across an area of 35,664 hectares. With beautiful mangrove swamp “Villu” s scattered around the park, Kumana is also known for its beautiful scenery.
