Madu Ganga is wetland with many mangrove islets that has a complex coastal wetland ecosystem. With a high ecological, biological and aesthetic significance, the area is home to approximately 303 species of plants species, and to 248 species of animals. The area attracts nature lovers from all around the world.
Bentota along with the Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area is the habitat of hundreds of species of birds and animals. Birdwatchers while visiting the mangrove islets and wetlands can spot kingfishers, herons, pelicans, and migratory birds. Nature lovers can take pleasure in nature walks with guides, capturing the beauty of nature with their cameras, and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere of an ecologically diverse area of Sri Lanka.
