Sri Lankan Attraction Dagoba of Thuparama

Dagoba of Thuparama

Being the very first dagabo to build in Sri Lanka, Dagoba of Thuparama was constructed in the 3rd century B.C. by king Devanampiyathissa. Theravada Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka by Mahinda Thero, and king Devanampiyathissa was urged to build a place to perform stupa worshipping. Thus, Dagoba of Thuparama was constructed enshrining Lord Buddha’s left collarbone. Throughout history, this place has been considered as one of the most sacred temples in Sri Lanka, which Buddhists flock around in thousands a year to this day. If you are interested in learning Sri Lankan history, Dagabo of Thuparamaya is one of the must-visit places in Anuradhapura.
