Embekka Devale Temple

Built by the King Vikramabahu III of Gampola Era (AD 1357 - 1374) Embekke Devale is famous for its woodwork. Dedicated to local deity lord Kataragama deviyo the shrine is one of the oldest shrines in Sri Lanka. The pillars of the shrine adorned with fine wood carvings are breathtaking.
