Located in sacred Mihintale, Anuradhapura, Kalu Diya Pokuna is a large pond with a monastery amidst the thick jungle. Being a place ideal for spiritual hikers, the site demands a hike through the forest to experience the serenity of this place. Translate to English as the 'Pond with Blackwater', the pond was used by monks who lived in the monastery to bath and supply water for day-to-day requirements. With a history that runs back to the 2nd century BC, the place is rich in nature as well. The scenery of the black waters of the pond with the surrounding greenery creates the ideal environment to spend a few hours without any disturbance.
