Buduruwagala is an ancient Buddhist temple and archaeological site in Sri Lanka's Monaragala District. It is a major religious and historical landmark in the country due to its outstanding rock carvings, notably the enormous standing Buddha figure. Here are some facts about Buduruwagala.

Buduruwagala is located in Sri Lanka's Uva Province, about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) southwest of the town of Wellawaya. It is set in a peaceful woodland location surrounded by magnificent natural splendor.

The major attraction in Buduruwagala is a collection of rock sculptures dating back to the 8th century during Sri Lanka's Mahayana Buddhist era. The primary figure is a towering standing Buddha statue that is around 15 meters (50 feet) tall.
