Sri Lankan Attraction Whale watching

Whale watching

Whale watching is a popular pastime in Sri Lanka for environment enthusiasts and marine life aficionados. The coastline of the nation affords possibilities to see spectacular whales and dolphins in their natural habitat.

The best time to go whale watching in Sri Lanka is between November and April, when the waters along the country's southern and eastern shores are calmer. During this period, migratory whales such as Blue Whales and Sperm Whales can be seen. Whale watching cruises, on the other hand, are accessible all year, with various species present at different times of the year.

Sri Lanka is well-known for its extensive marine life, which includes various whale and dolphin species. The Blue Whale, the biggest mammal on Earth, is the most common whale observed on whale watching cruises.
